The motto on the new T-shirt I bought on Thursday night is "It's not who you know; it's who you don't know". This is the festival music director John Nugent's mantra and a good descriptor for the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival. The last night for this year's XRIJF was a good case in point. 

Students, ages 14-19, have been invited to come play with the pros on the last day of the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival, Saturday, June 20th from 2-4 p.m. in Room 120 at the Eastman School of Music, 26 Gibbs Street (i.e., "Jazz Street"). The Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is still on and many local jazz musicians may be found wandering around "Jazz Street" or in the XRIJF venues, both playing and listening—but not all. There are some local folks playing jazz elsewhere in and around Rochester. Here are the jazz listings for the next seven days (Note, jazz fest gigs are NOT here):
