Water Street continues its foray into da jazz....
Some hot jazz to warm you up . . .

Oui jazz in Montreal. . .

I'm here in Montreal, Quebec, with my wife attending a business meeting.  Friday night we had on our own and managed to get a table at the Upstairs Jazz Bar & Grill to see the Guy Nadon Quartet. According to his website, Guy Nadon:

[B]ecame a fixture on     the Montreal club scene, playing for many international artists     such as Ginette Reno, Charles Aznavour, Lorraine Desmarais, Oliver     Jones, Buddy Rich, Louis Bellson, Jim Chapin, Elvin Jones, Cozy     Cole, Joe Morello, Phil Woods, Zoot Sims, Sonny Stitt, and Pat     LaBarbara to name just a few. He was also a member of two of     the of the most prestigious Montreal big bands, those of Vic     Vogel and Dennis Christianson.

The band was tight and had a smokin reed player (I say that because his instruments ranged from soprano sax to bassoon).  From my Google research and the pictures on the wall, Upstairs is one of the jazz fixtures in Montreal.  The little club had a wise ass (but good humoured) manager and really great staff.  To our luck, due to some people who were very late for their reservations, we had good seats for the music despite walking in without reservations.  I tried to send a "Live views" photo from the club, but I don't appear to have those enhanced services up here in Quebec. Smoked a Cuban cigar on the walk back along Rue de la Montagne to the Ritz-Carlton (where my meeting is and where we're staying) on Rue Sherbrooke.  Good evening was had by all....
