Go out to see some jazz in Rochester . . . PLEASE!
Jimmie Highsmith reaches a milestone! Jimmie, can we call you "Jr." anymore?

There's jazz in the State Capital this weekend . . .

Here in Upstate, it is easy to forget that just a hop-skip-and-jump away are some other major metropoli that occasionally have some great jazz to hear.  If you're of a mind to head over to Albany, M&T Bank is sponsoring the Albany Riverfront Jazz Festival on September 8th, from noon to 7:30 pm at Albany Riverfront Park. Headlining will be The Joshua Redman Trio (with Reuben Rogers on bass and Eric Harland on drums). Also appearing are Nnenna Freelon, Alexa Ray Joel, the Rebirth Brass Band, and the New Regime Band.  It's free and first come, first seat so get there early. Check out the website for times.
