Greg Pattillo brings his beatboxing flute and Project to town

The Rochester Flute Association is bringing in beatboxing flutist Greg Pattillo, whose YouTube video of Eddie Harris's Freedom Jazz Dance you saw on this site, with his group Project (including cellist, Eric Stephenson and Peter Seymour on bass) demonstrating their fusion of jazz, hip-hop, and world music-balanced out by a sincere allegiance to their classical roots. The concert will be held on Tuesday, April 22nd beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the School of the Arts, 45 Prince Street (at University Ave.) in Rochester. In addition to the concert, Project will be working with music students at SOTA sharing their unique approach to improvisation in a workshop from 8:20 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. RFA members are invited to attend this free class. Tickets are $8 for RFA student and senior members, $10 for RFA adult members, $10 for non-members students and seniors, and $12 for non-member adults, and may be purchased at the door, or in advance by calling (585) 234-4RFA (4732).
