R.E.S.P.E.C.T. .... Get some Respect Sextet at Bop Shop Atrium on May 1st

Respect Sextet photoThe Respect Sextet is coming back to Rochester to the Bop Shop Atrium on Friday, May 1, at 8:00 pm, brought to you by Bop Arts, Inc.

Formed in 2001, The Respect Sextet is a well known ensemble in these parts, comprised of Josh Rutner (reeds, radio, toys), Eli Asher (trumpet, toys), James Hirschfeld (trombone, toys), Malcolm Kirby (bass), Red Wierenga (piano, keyboard, accordion) and Ted Poor (drums). They put together a wild melange of improvisational music in programs combining free improvisation, original compositions, free jazz classics, television commercial jingles, text pieces, jazz standards, game pieces and more into what Exclaim! Magazine once called "a whirling collage." Check out some of their music on the Respect Sextet MySpace page.
