Listen to some jazz grooves while doing good ... Check out Jazz@111
November 16, 2009
In the Loop Ministries, located at the Reformation Lutheran Church at 111 Chestnut Street in the City’s Eastman School of Music and Theatre district (and the home of the Nordic Jazz Now Series during the Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival), is launching the first in a series of jazz concerts entitled “Jazz@111”.
On Sunday, November 22nd, “Jazz@111” is presenting a double bill of local favorites The Bill Tiberio Group and Paradigm Shift Trio. The benefit concert starts at 4:00pm. There is a suggested $10 donation. Those who have attended a concert during the jazz festival know this is a great space for hearing music. Proceeds from Jazz@111 will help In the Loop Ministries to sponsor its "Music After School" program, an instructional program for inner city youth who may otherwise not be able to afford music instruction and are increasingly unable to access it in school.
You can also check out the Fairport High School Jazz Combo at the second "Munch N' Music" series of lunchtime concerts at noon on Thursday, November 19th. It's free (although donations to support the Jazz@111 program are always welcome) so bring your brown bag down to check out these talented youth. If you miss this one, don't worry, there will be more!
