While you're out getting some of those last minute holiday presents (I'm VERY behind on my shopping), perhaps catch a bit of jazz in and around our fair city of Rochester? Nat's brother Freddy Cole is going to be bringing his holiday cheer in on Friday and Wings organist and other Fred (Costello) is bringing back his holiday show after a 4 year hiatus. Let me know if I've missed anything....
Cole will playing with his quartet guitarist Randy Napoleon, drummer Curtis Boyd and bassist Elias Bailey, which according to the New York Times is a group that “never fails to satisfy." 
As the wind begins to howl and the snow swirls, I'm sitting here all warm and toasty listening to some jazz (what, you thought it would be Waylon Jennings?) and preparing my listings of what seems like a lot of jazz gigs in and around Rochester over the next seven days. Yes, again I haven't been able to get to any other post in the past seven days, so disregard the listings post that appears immediately below. That was so last week... 
Sitting here writing a post rather than where I want to be, in Kilbourn Hall hearing Bob Brookmeyer perform. Just couldn't get the steam to go out tonight, but I plan on catching Brookmeyer tomorrow at East Rochester's Village Rock Cafe.
