Jazz Around Town: So much music, so little time ....

On offer this week ... Michael Musillami Trio presented by Bop Arts Jazz in the Atrium & Jeremy Pelt Quintet presented by Exodus to Jazz

While they are often on different ends of the spectrum in terms of the type of music presented, two live jazz series that deserve your support—Bop Arts' Jazz in the Atrium and Exodus to Jazz—are both presenting great out-of-town jazz talent over the next week.

  • Musillami imageOn Friday, February 19th, Bop Arts will be presenting the Michael Musillami Trio, featuring Joe Fonda and George Schuller at 8:00 pm in the Bop Shop Atrium, 274 N Goodman St. in the Village Gate. Bop Shop owner and Bop Arts head Tom Kohn begins the series with Musillami, a favorite who last appeared here in 2006 and delivered a great set of jazz guitar trio music. A $10 donation requested. More information on the Bop Shop website.
  • Jeremy Pelt Quintet image Trying something new on Exodus to Jazz will be presenting the Jeremy Pelt Quintet. Pelt, a DownBeat Poll Rising Star for two consecutive years and one of the hot young jazz trumpeters in the mix for a Sunday matinee. Pelt and the Quintet will perform for the first Exodus To Jazz Sunday matinee show at 4:00PM, February 21st, featuring compositions from his just released CD Men of Honor. More information on Exodus to Jazz's website.

These series need your support and, yes, by "support" I mean get out there and catch one or both of these! There's a lot of live jazz in and around Rochester this week. More tomorrow ....
