Jazz Around Town: Cooling it down ... but still hot!

Heads up on the great new Exodus To Jazz season ... Check it out!

Exodus to Jazz has announced its new season for September 2012 to June 2013 and it's going to be great. This great series of jazz concerts in Rochester (Jazz@Rochester is a sponsor) is just getting better.  I'm just going to give you the lineup right now, but will do something in more detail as each concert approaches.  Until then, check out their website for more information, special deals and more. Sign up to be on their email list for changes and more.  Here's the lineup:

  • Saturday, September 8, 2012: The Wallace Roney Septet @ Lutheran Church of the Reformation
  • Saturday, September 22, 2012: The Bucky Pizzarelli Trio featuring Nicki Parrott @ Hochstein Performance Hall
  • Saturday, October 4, 2012: The Tom Harrell Quartet @ Hochstein Performance Hall (fresh from his appearance at XRIJF 2012 in Kilbourn Hall)
  • Saturday, October 27, 2012: The E.J. Strickland Quintet @ Lutheran Church of the Reformation
  • Thursday, November 15, 2012: Rene Marie & Experiment in Truth @ Water Street Music Hall (her concert last year was amazing!)

  • Saturday, January 5, 2013: The Ron Affif Trio @ Lutheran Church of the Reformation
  • Saturday, January 26, 2013: The Grace Kelly Quintet @ Hochstein Performance Hall
  • Saturday, February 16, 2013: The Jeremy Pelt Quintet @ Lutheran Church of the Reformation (also appeared at the 2012 XRIJF)
  • Thursday, March 14, 2013: Susan Pereira & Sabor Brasil @ Water Street Music Hall
  • Saturday, April 20, 2013: The Joe Locke Group @ Hochstein Performance Hall (locally grown, internationally known vibist Joe Locke returns)
  • Saturday, May 11, 2013: The Straight Ahead Quintet @ Lutheran Church of the Reformation
  • Thursday, June 6, 2013: The Dr. Lonnie Smith Trio @ Water Street Music Hall

I think you'll agree that this is a great and diverse group of artists who will be tickling our ears for nearly a year.  More concerts, more venues, and some incredible talent are being brought to town and we really need to support this to keep it coming and support live jazz in Rochester throughout the year.

Tickets for the individual concerts are available online at Brown Paper Tickets and will soon be available at all Wegmans stores in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. ETJ Full & Half Season Passes are also now available through Brown Paper Tickets, with savings form 17% to 20% when compared to the individual concert prices. The ETJ Full Season Pass is for 12 concerts, the ETJ Half Season Pass for 6 concerts. Details on all tickets and season passes are available at the Exodus to Jazz website.
