Live from Kansas? Well, virtually... (Live jazz in ROC, April 30-May 6)

grey jazz sign

I've been visiting my father in Wichita, KS for the past week ... no jazz here in Brownbackistan so back to the regularly scheduled pictures.  Coming home soon, so hope to see you out and about and listening to some live jazz around town.

Below you will find the next seven days in live jazz in and around Rochester. Listen amongst yourselves....

Live from Chicago? Well, virtually... (Live jazz in ROC, April 23-29)

Dee Alexander Qt at Jazz Showcase

Those who have Liked the Jazz@Rochester page on Facebook will know that I'm in Chicago and over the past week have hit several of my "stations of the [jazz] cross" hear in the Windy City, including Chicago favorite Dee Alexander seen right at Joe Segal's (a new NEA Jazz Master) Jazz Showcase. Also hit Andy's and, of course, some blues at Buddy Guy's Legends club (including hearing the man himself sing a couple). Next week I'll be in Wichita... not likely to see much in the way of jazz images next week, but who knows?

Listen amongst yourselves (Live jazz in ROC, April 16-22, 2015)

Jazz Club

I'm out of town so doing this remotely, so  listen amongst yourselves to the stuff around town. Not much else to report... but maybe some live jazz here in Chicago later (Herbie and Chick are a few blocks north of where I'm staying on Friday, but I think it's sold out... sad).

Below you will find the next seven days in live jazz in and around Rochester. Enjoy!

We got yer Rochester jazz gigs right here (Live jazz in ROC, April 9-15, 2015)

B&W Jazz Sign

While it is still somewhat light, I'm beginning to hear from more local jazz musicians about gigs, so here's to hoping it will pick up as we wait for the 2015 XRIJF (which, surprisingly enough, doesn't actually suck ALL of the air out of the local jazz scene... but does have an effect). If you know of something out there that I'm missing in these posts, click on the Contact Us button above and let us know....

While there is not a lot of jazz to be found, there is some and, if you squint your ears, some more at this year's Lilac Festival from Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 17.  Check out the music schedule at at their website here.

When will the heat come? (Live jazz in ROC, April 2-8, 2015)

Jazz 1 way sign

Despite the (finally) rising temperatures, it seems to be getting a bit cold out there for live jazz in town. What with the apparent closing of Bistro 135 and just an all round paucity of live gigs in town. Here's to hoping that it is just the calm before the storm of Spring & Summer.  If you know of something out there that I'm missing in these posts, click on the Contact Us button above and let us know....

So, here's the next seven days in live jazz in and around Rochester.
